All applications that run in background on the iPhone require Background App Refresh enabled.
If you are seeing a message relating to this when you start Ski Tracks then please check the settings and make sure background app refresh is enabled.
Settings > Apps > Ski Tracks
Open Settings App and Enable Background App Refresh for Ski Tracks.
If the Background App Refresh is enabled but is greyed out or not selectable then the iPhone system wide setting has been disabled. Goto Settings > General > Background App Refresh.

Open Settings App
Goto General > Background App Refresh - Select the Background App Refresh selector (see below)
Please select Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi & Mobile Data
Setting > General > Restrictions
If you are unable to change the settings then there maybe a restriction on the device you are using.
Settings -> General -> Restrictions - enter your pin code. Scroll to the bottom, Background App Refresh is under the "Allow Changes” section. Can you check that "Allow Changes" is on.
